how to decorate a dresser since we finally finished the two “big” projects on our current home to do list, paint + flooring, i’ve started to slowly get this house of ours together. decor makes a house a home + decorating has been such a fun process. i decided to start with the two easiest, least amount of work to do, rooms in the house… our bedrooms. for our master, i really wanted the space to be like a little california desert retreat… the vibe there is incredible + i wanted to fill the space with pops of color, but keep it simple + clean as well. our master isn’t huge, it’s actually a pretty perfect size with a nice layout, a wall of closets + even a bath with a small shower. the focal point of the room is the bed/window area, but I wanted to brighten the other pretty spaces of the room up with nick nacks + art. we have a beautiful set of vintage mid centuryish dressers in the space that I actually picked up on a local yardsale website for PENNIES… so i really wanted something that would complement them nicely.

for this little dresser i decided to put of collection of fun things together, mostly things I already had on had + i dressed the area up with a beautiful print by Jane Wilder from Minted. what i love about Minted is that they offer amazing art pieces by incredibly talented independent artists for really great prices. they even offer they option to frame your art for you + have a ton of really great frames to chose from. all you have to do when ordering is simply pick out your art with your favorite frame option, if you would like one, + they ship it to your door step.

what drew me to this specific piece of art, other than the fact that it’s very deserty… i mean it is a cactus + i LOVE cactuses, is the colors that are in this little piece of art. there are moody shades of blues, greens + even a few pink hues which really brought in some fun color. i love white so naturally i decided to frame the print in a white frame. i didn’t want the wall to be too busy + i liked that the white frame nicely complemented the print.

for the dresser surface i kept the decor simple. i’m a big fan of minimalism so i didn’t want to overcrowd the space. the slab of marble that you see on the dresser is actually just a piece of tile i picked up from the hardware store. it was less than $6 + works perfect as a little “tray”. the rest of the surface is decorated with a lamp, a large stone that jacob’s dad gave to him, a small frame + a plant. plants are always a must! / wilder california

i kept the remaining part of the wall space simple with a few hats. it serves as decor + a hat rack so it worked nicely. i kept the area simple so the art work would really be the focal point of the wall. it ties everything in so nicely + is such a beautiful piece to look at. you can purchase this piece HERE.

jacob and I will be celebrating 10 years of love in a few weeks and that very day just happens to be asher’s birthday so of course we kinda set our day aside and celebrate the best gift we’ve ever received. we also laugh about that day because just a few days before i delivered we thought it would be crazy if he was born on that very day.. and he was. with that being said i always like to surprise jacob with a few of his favorite things or at least little things that i know he will appreciate.IMG_8359with autumn quickly approaching I thought it would be fun to surprise him with some fun fall inspired items that are great for everyday use… also why are guys so fun to buy for? i could go crazy with little knick knacks and fun things that i think jacob would like. here are a few fun things i rounded up to surprise him with! IMG_8356left to right –

flannels – flannels are such a staple in my loves fall wardrobe. you can almost find them anywhere this time of year but thrift stores are usually the best places to find them!

cozy hats – these are a must for the autumn and winter seasons here in North Dakota. i liked this one because it was a neutral color and because jacob can wear it to work as well.

Havana Honeys – my love is forever buying cigars so I thought these Havana Honeys natural leaf cigars would be the perfect little addition to his gift. these Cuban cigars offer a premium smoking experience without costing an arm and a leg, are at a number of local gas marts + come in an array of favors; original, spiced rum, sweet honey + classic cognac. they are the perfect cigar for the autumn season and are oh so smooth! these cigars scream campfires, drinks on the porch, sunday football + so much more! sign up for your Havana Honeys coupons HERE + use their store locator found HERE.

wallet – i’m pretty sure my husbands current wallet is 3 or 4 years old and he’s been chatting about getting a new one i figured why not throw one in.

beard products – fall/winter time = beard time. i thought these fun washes, oils + balms would be great to have on hand with the cooler weather approaching!

IMG_8246Lately Asher and I have been spending our afternoons snacking on yummy popsicles and crafting. My sweet boy loves to create fun things and display them around our house and of course I don’t mind creating fun things with him! With that being said I must say I love a good “mess-free” craft. I’m all about the fun, but a quick clean up is something that I always enjoy! I mean what busy mama doesn’t!?.. For some time now I’ve had an urge to create some stained glass inspired pieces for the large windows we have in our apartment. We are running out of wall and refrigerator space to display all of Asher’s beautiful artwork on so I thought adding a fun touch to the windows would really give our boring little apartment some color!

While shopping at Walmart the other day, I ran across the Glad products and the Glad Press’n Seal immediately caught my eye. As handy of a product that I knew it was, I also knew that it would be the perfect little solution to my DIY stained glass window craft that I wanted to do with Asher. I picked up a box, headed to the register, and out the door we went! When we got home I dug out some tissues paper I had stashed away from a previous birthday party, cut the paper up into fun shapes, and an afternoon of crafting it was!

Here’s how you can make a fun, inexpensive, and mess free craft with your toddler!IMG_8215WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Glad Press’n Seal
tissue paper

– Before starting the craft  with you little one, cut your tissue paper up into the desired shapes + sizes + properly store your scissors away.

– Tear off a larger piece of Glad Press’n Seal and place it on the table.

– Let you little one stick the tissue paper shapes on the sheet of Glad Press’n Seal… Let their little creative minds soar!

– Tear off another large piece of Glad Press’n Seal (the same size as the first one) and place it over your little ones finished art work.

– Let them smooth out the bumps and it’s ready for hanging!

– Using tape, carefully tape you beautiful little stained glass pieces to your window and enjoy!
